There are quite a few people that do not know fly fishing. For them fishing is considered to be a game which is carried by throwing some kind of lure on a line, then tossing it in the water and waiting for a gnaw. But fly fishing enthusiasts have proper knowledge of the techniques of this sport. It is an ancient angling technique that has been specially developed to grab the trout and salmon. But, at present the art of this sport is carried out to catch pike, carp, bass and many other species of fishes.

Techniques:

The art of fly fishing is done by using artificial flies as lures. They are tied to a popper with the help of a thread, feathers, fur and other analogous materials. This idea is used so as to create a false impression of food that will match the natural vision of the fish. This attracts the fish towards the hook. Special rods are used for fly fishing. They are designed as such that they generally become light in weight but longer in size.

The lines created are heavy up to some extent. The lines can be made either to float or else to sink. Also, they typically match the fly rods as per their weight. The flies used are normally light in weight and they are attached to the line. The art of casting with a fly is totally different from the regular casting. It mainly differs due to the types of bait used. In regular casting, the weight of the bait is considered to be important. While, in fly fishing fluffy bait and a one-sided line is used. This directs towards the actual placement of the fish.

The art of fly fishing is carried out in two different forms. This includes either dry or wet flies. Dry flies are made to sit on the top of the water surface, whereas wet flies are placed beneath the water surface. The techniques used in fly fishing depend on the person's way of fishing and the conditions while fishing.
